Parents are the primary educators in the faith.

The Christian home is a place where children first learn about The Faith. The family home is “the domestic church,” a community of grace and prayer, a school of human virtues and of Christian charity.

What is PREP?
This program assists the parents of our parish in their role as the primary teachers of the faith to their children. Guided by our parish pastor, comprehensive instruction in the Catholic faith is organized by the PREP Coordinator and delivered by volunteer catechists from the parish community. Sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation are incorporated in the program, which runs from Gr 1 to Gr 7. Through PREP, parents and families have the opportunity to renew their own faith foundation by studying with their children and through attendance at special sacrament meetings.
PREP at Christ the Redeemer
Classes are held from mid-September to the first week of June in St. Anthony’s School, located beside the parish, every Wednesday from 4:15 – 5:30 pm.
We ask that families registering for PREP be registered members of our parish. If you have not yet had the chance to register, you can do so by clicking here. After registering, or if you are already registered, please download, complete and submit the PREP registration form to the parish office. There is a yearly registration fee of $200/child; for families with more than two children attending PREP, the fee for the third and any subsequent child is $75. PREP fees do not cover the costs of running the program – it is supported by the generosity of parishioners who give of their time, talent, and treasure in order to make PREP happen each year. Registered parish families who actively support the life of the parish through their service and use of Sunday Mass envelopes are offered a further subsidized rate. It is our policy that financial difficulty will not hinder any child from receiving religious instruction.
Children who have not received the sacraments at the usual age (Gr 2 for First Communion and First Penance, Gr 7 for Confirmation), or who have not received any religious instruction, are most likely better suited to our Rite of Christian Initiation for Children program, and should contact Krista to confirm before registering. Upon completion of PREP, faith formation continues for high school students through our senior youth ministry program.
For more information, and for all families new to PREP, please contact the PREP Coordinator, Krista Greig at firstname.lastname@example.org.
