Journey Through Lent

What is Lent?

Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent, a time of self-examination, fasting, and penance to prepare us for the joyful celebration of Easter. “By the solemn forty days of Lent the Church unites herself each year to the mystery of Jesus in the desert” (Catechism of the Catholic Church #540).

Lent is marked by three things: prayer, fasting and almsgiving. By offering up small sacrifices through the season, we unite ourselves to Christ's sacrifice on the cross for our sins.

(Virtual) Stations of the Cross

Every Friday at 7:00 pm, the parish community is invited to join together to pray the Stations of the Cross over Zoom. To participate, please click and join the "Stations of the Cross" Flocknote group. You will receive an email notification on Friday mornings with the secure link. You may click the link below to be added to the group at any time during Lent.

By adding yourself to the Stations of the Cross email group, you'll also receive the weekly readings for "Soup & Silence," a Lenten tradition at CTR.

Lenten Prayer & Conversation

We recognize the ache that comes from being away from each other for so long. Our Lenten Prayer & Conversation series is a chance for you to break out of your usual bubble to spend time with other parishioners in a safe, online setting. If you are interested in taking part, please join the Flocknote group using the link below. We will send you details so that you can participate!

The format of each evening will consist of a large group prayer over Zoom, followed by a short, live presentation from a local priest, then we will break out into small groups for conversation about the presentation. Finally, we will conclude with another prayer together as a large group. We are very excited about this interactive spin on a traditional parish Lenten mission and hope you will join us!

The Lenten Prayer & Conversation series will take place on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm.

Fasting Challenge

In recent years, fasting has become a trendy health practice, however it can be much more than that, benefiting and deepening our relationship with God. Fasting is a central part of Lenten practices and we would like show you why. Join our Fasting Challenge email list to receive information about the practice of spiritual fasting, and to be reminded to observe Fridays in Lent this way. Emails will be sent out on Thursday evenings. Click the button below to be added to the list.
